On this morning of the KBL Green Club Classic, 9 Green Club anglers come to compete at Nagawicka Lake in Delafield, Wisconsin to improve their position in the standing, win some spending money, and most importantly, to go for the Angler of the Year title.
After a week of steady weather, we were treated with heavy rain and wind on Friday and Saturday. Weather was looking better on tournament day, but the angler will be dealing with much cooler air temperature and marginal wind conditions. Preparing to grind against the elements, the anglers launched at 6:00am sharp under cloudy and breezy conditions with the air temperature just below 60 degrees.
At 981 acres, Nagawicka lake is the largest tournament lake of the year. The anglers have to deal with deep and steep drop offs, shallow docks, and very clear water in search of those monster bass we’ve heard about. Needless to say it was a rough day for bass fishing. Green anglers fished and grinded in various waters from 3ft shallow docks to 25ft drops, while fighting rock bass, speed boats, water skiers, and bass stealing northern pikes. Finally, the wind condition deteriorated and the tournament was ended at noon for safety concerns.
However, some of our anglers were able to find a few fish and here are the results:
Ricky “Harbor Master” Compton has been money all season long and he did not disappoint by bringing in a 17.75″ tank smallie for Big Bass of the day. Ricky takes home the $45 prize money and the Tackle trap gift card.
Finishing in 3rd place with 2 fish for 31.25″ was Scott “I Finally did it” Shaw.
Finishing, in 2nd place with 2 fish for 34.25″ our big bass winner, Ricky “Cash Money” Compton
Finally, the 2016 KBL Green Club Classic Champion is Calvin “Baby Face” Dee.
Calvin searched and grinded out 3 fish for 44.75″ and takes home the $270 prize money, the Rocktown Advantures gift card, and the golden bass trophy.
