The KBL Orange club had a great showing on Sunday for their first tournament with a total of 30 participants at Long Lake near Ingleside, IL (29 orange club members and 1 green club member). With the onslaught of a pretty severe cold front the week leading up to the event as well as the wind and the rain…it made for a pretty tough tournament. 11 out of the 30 anglers were able to pull at least 1 or several fish together but the one thing that was consistent was there was no set pattern between all of them. They were caught both shallow and deep on quite a few different baits.
Some of the highlights for the event included a couple 18’s a 19 and a 19.25 inch bass that were caught by Joe Palmer, Patrick Tharp and Shaun Wood. Josh Bennett lost a Canada class northern in the 45 inch range on a dropshot setup…and some reports on a few nice catfish came in as well.
We want to congratulate the winners on their great effort and pulling in enough inches of bass to place in the top 3 and walk away with some cash!
In first place we had Don Thompson with the only full limit of four fish that went 57 inches.
In second place we had Steve Glinka with three fish for 41.5 inches.
In third place we had Riley True with three fish for 39.25 inches.
Big bass was caught by Shaun Wood with his 4-5 pound class largemouth at 19.25 inches.
Official results are below with the rest of the field from Sunday. We also want to congratulate our door prize winners who received prizes from RAM Mounts (Matt Williams), YakAddicts (Shaun Wood), KaRu Lures (George Lobb), Yakattack (Gary Rosenberg), Bending Branches (Josh Bennett), Rocktown Adventures (Don Thompson), The Tackle Trap (Shaun Wood), JB’s Fish Sauce, StankX Bait Company and Bizz Baits (Rodney Hicks)! Thank you to all of the sponsors who donated these prizes!
Lastly we would like to thank Swany’s Marina in Ingleside, IL for giving us free reign on their property last minute to run our event. The staff there was great and extremely accommodating…we will be back to visit again!!!
