Sunday 4:00 AM. Thousands of bugs greeted the KBL Green Staff as they set up for the 2nd tournament as the sun slowly makes it way up the horizon. KBL Green Club anglers checked in and anxious set up their battle crafts to redeem them selves for the rough results from the Vermilion tournament a month ago. Kudos to our anglers, the process was smooth, quick, and right on schedule. The conditions was near perfect as the anglers launch and headed towards their spots on Sprint Lake South.
The sounds of rods whipping through the air and lures hitting the water echoes around when the start time arrived. Soon, the sounds of fish splashes followed by cheers and congratulations begin to flow. Mixed in between were grunts of missed hook sets and screams of inappropriate phrases as the brutal reality of the heavy vegetation and sneaky big bass get the best of the competing anglers.
As the day went on and the grind sets it, it was apparent that this lake wasn’t going to give up easily. In fact, Spring Lake South claimed a few casualty as the day winds down.
However, the Green Club anglers got even by landing a few fat ones of their own.
In the end, most of the anglers returned with fish to submit along with a few stories to share. Some of them will also go home with cash prizes as the big bass and tournament winners. Speaking of which, here is the official winners for the tournament.
Taking home the $100 big bass prize was Shaun “The Ramp Surfer” Wood. His 22.25 inch monster bass as also the largest caught between the Orange and Green clubs.
